Students create travel posters using Microsoft Publisher 2007

Overview
6th grade computer class will be the
length of one marking period for a total of 18 double periods. 6th grade students will become familiar with
our current operating system, Microsoft Windows XP.
Students will reinforce keyboarding skills that they learned in their elementary schools. Students will learn basic computer skills such as saving files to their student network directories, and opening files from teacher directories. The skills and techniques learned this year will be reinforced in 7th and 8th grades.
Desktop publishing procedures are currently taught using Microsoft Publisher 2007, where will be making travel posters, and have the option of creating cards for various holidays.
Students will be instructed on online etiquette and how to protect their files.
Students will learn proper word processing techniques using Microsoft Word 2007 as their primary word processing tool. Students will also learn editing skills so that they can easily and effectively identify and correct their mistakes with a grammar checker and spell checker.
Grades: Assignments and worksheets are graded on a scale of 0 to 10. Students are required to answer a daily Learning Essential Question. For every 2 LEQs students will receive a grade from 0 to 4 points.
All assignments, worksheets, and LEQ sheets are due by the last day of the marking period.

MS
PowerPoint – Students will create slide shows in Microsoft PowerPoint. Using
topics of personal interest, students will learn and demonstrate concepts such
as using slide transitions, using text appropriately, and using object entrance,
emphasis, and exiting. Students will be also introduced to motion paths and how
to make animations.
